Last night I was getting ready for bed and a torrent of thought came over me. An absurd truth came became indescribable clear and the thought of it seemed comical and extremely foreboding. It is this.
'Donald Trump is president of the United States.'
I know okay, I know. Many people you talk to already are up in arms about his provocations towards North Korea, threatening the futures of DACA recipients, the pressure he applied to legislators of the Republican Party in order to hastily push tax reform through, and the list goes on. It's all real and it's all concerning.
Now I promise, this is not a maudlin rant about the state of our country although it can be disconcerting when you start to go down that dark, damp, cavernous path which inevitably comes to our ultimate doom.What I'd like to examine is the above truth.
The truth that Trump IS president and that WE (the people) elected him. Really let that sink in. No one thought it would happen except his inner circle and some clever Russians. I think we are still recovering from shock almost a year into his presidency. The last year and a half have been an absolute whirlwind of troubling news releases. With so much controversy it has become a chore to keep up.
This realization that...oh shit, HE is our guy! He's the head honcho. This fact hit me like a ton of bricks. Although this fact is known to most everyone who lives in the entire world, let alone the United States, it still let laughable and twilight zone-esque.
To me, it seems so apparent that the man is an absolute menace and a buffoon that his rise to the presidency feels like a complete farce. I will now list some facts about the man that inform my opinion of his character and who he really is as a person, as a man. (I'm sure a lot of people reject this distinction of a 'real man' but that did used to mean something and it is basically just an old school way of saying a person of the male sex has integrity).

1. He is a twitter troll
2. He has declared bankruptcy six times while maintaining that he is a savvy business man
2. He is a real estate developer
3. His go-to karaoke song is "Desert Rose" by Sting
4. He routinely insults US citizens of the muslim faith
5. He never gives Melania back rubs...ever
6. This is his Wikipedia photo
7. He withdrew from the Paris Climate Agreement and put Scott Pruitt, a self-described "leading advocate against the EPA's activist agenda, in charge of the EPA
8. WE CAN'T DANCE!
9. He antagonizes gold star families
10. To him, $1,000,000 is a small loan
11. He won't pick up his dog's poop
12. Most people know him from reality TV
13. He eats pizza with a fork and knife
14. He's into beauty pageants...christ sake
15. His favorite genre of literature is beach reads
All facts aside, I'd like to end with a simply question.
Would anybody want someone like Donald Trump at any point in his life to date their sister or daughter?
This may seem arbitrary but I think if you actually consider the qualities that make up a person who you consider to be a "good dude" you'll find that these are the qualities that you absolutely want our president to possess. Compassion, resourcefulness, thoughtfulness, flexibility, a basic grasp of US history, etc. The list goes on and to me he Trump falls way short. Simply put, He's just not my type of guy. He's a greasy con baby with bad hair.
The guy is bad news. This is my opinion and everyone else can have their's too.
